Living in Wine Country - Part 3

We live in the Western Cape, in the beautiful wine region of South Africa. We don't have to go far to find interesting things to photograph. I've chosen some of my favorite photos from this past year. Some I posted before, but some - like these geese - are new. And, just as much as I enjoy going wine tasting, I also enjoy photographing the animals that we see.

Living in Wine Country, South Africa

Amanda has been blessed experiencing a variety of things like "riding" a horse near the vineyards in Rawsonville and watching tortoises in the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden.

Living in Wine Country - Part 1

Let me introduce myself: I'm Christina Morley, an author and photographer living in this neat corner of the world.

Living in South Africa's beautiful wine country is fascinating. I get to take lots of pictures and show you a side of South Africa that you will probably never see on TV or in magazines.

I'm taking a look back through the year and sharing some of my favorite shots, including ones that I'm sharing for the first time. Today's set of pictures are of the wildlife we see in our garden almost everyday, except for the green moth with touches of red, which found its way on our balcony.

My 3 Favorite Free Editing Sites

The two photos that I'm using today (the tea set and the cactus plant), I took at Angala's restaurant. I just finished a visual 9-part series on Angala titled Boutique Hotel (Part 1 - 9). You can find the links to that series at the bottom of my post.

As a blogger and avid photographer, I spend a lot of time selecting and editing photos before uploading them to my blogs. Here are my THREE favorite FREE resources that I use:

I used PicMonkey to create the collage above and I used Picasa 3 for the text and photo edits.

Above is my cactus plant photo before uploading it to Canva. Below is how I used it in Canva's Blog Graphic. The text I added in Picasa 3. My favorite fonts with lots of options is in Picasa 3. But I have to convert my png image from Canva into jpg for Picasa. I do that with PicMonkey. I upload my png image to PicMonkey and save it in jpg format.

Boutique Hotel - Part 9

I hope you've enjoyed this series. Today I'm ending off with photos that I took outside the Lily Cottage at Angala where my in-laws stay when they are managing this five-star boutique hotel. It's on the road between Paarl and Franschhoek, South Africa, with beautiful views of vineyards and mountains. They plan on retiring from there in 2015, so this series has been a variety of memories captured over the last few years.
